Tracey and I went for a long snorkel - saw another eel and a turtle that didn't seem to be doing too well. I hope he was just resting. Later on another turtle swam right by Emily and Johnny - they were really close to shore and Emilie got to see him up close. It was a big one too!
As Ellis and I were sitting there, Ellis commented that he was going to put Rowan's floater ring into the "river" so it could float back to Canada. "Hmmm" I said. Then Ellis said "and I'll put Rowan in it first."
It was a gorgeous morning and the swimming was great - we also got to watch a wedding on the beach. Generally, a successful outing.
We headed home for lunch where I discussed my needs with Tracey and mom - chocolate and more alcohol....They headed off and the kids and I stayed behind. This is great not having to shop! It is much easier with Emilie around - Ellis seems to listen to her. I hope it lasts.
Things were going okay until Rowan started spewing great gobs of phlegm and turning purple. They got worse when he took a header off the bed. When will I learn? Dumb me thought ' "oh, I'll be able to get to him before he gets close to the edge" and next thing I knew over he went head first. Yes - it was sickening. It all happened in slow motion (or so it seemed). He appears to be fine - a little more clingy and needy, but that could be the teething and the cold.
I decided to start anew and take Ellis and Emilie (and Rowan) to the pool. They all love it. Again, things were going great - Ellis was throwing in quarters and Em was diving for them when another pool guest asked is all three were mine - I turned my head for about 2 seconds to discuss things with her when Ellis decided now was the time to drink the pool. Em was like - uhh Ellis and I turned to look and all saw was flailing hands and no Ellis. I hauled him out as he screamed his head off. Phew - he was fine. I think the woman felt bad as she didn't try to distract me again. That will really help his love of swimming. Actually, he was fine and continued to play on the pool steps, so I don't think he was too traumatized. I think I was more traumatized.
Thank goodness it was happy hour after the pool and Tracey cooked up some fabulous mahimahi (encrusted with toasted macadamia nuts and a papaya salsa). Yay Tracey!
