Here is a happy Ellis at the art table at play group and a curious Rowan peering over the Citycat seat. Oh and Ellis strategically positioned by the treats. We walked in the scorching heat to playgroup Christmas party. It felt odd. Ellis immediately saw all the cookies and treats and started begging for a cookie right away. I told him he had to wait and got out the art and craft table. The mom's were also eying the treat table though and soon it was a free for all. After that we sang Christmas songs (Dashing through the snow - how about slogging up the hill in the muggy heat) and then scary santa came to visit. One brother and sister were terrified of Santa and no wonder. I didn't get a picture - but he was slightly frightening - was that a mask he was wearing or just bad makeup. One little girl was particularly terrified (it was her dad dressed up as Santa - perhaps she was wondering what this strange looking person had done to her dad). Ellis was ok - he knew he was getting a present. Add another Mr. Men book to the collection and Rowan got Pat the Bunny.
We went home in the noon day sun, puttered around for a while and then decided to go play in the playground. It was too darn hot though so I decided we'd take the citycat to Cyp's work. Unfortunately, there was not really a river breeze on the citycat and we got to UQ just as Cyp was running to catch the cat home. We managed to meet up (furiously texting my position so Cyp could get on the right cat). Didn't think he'd make it so I got off with the boys. As I was leaving, I talked to the citycat worker - he's originally from Southern Cal. Asked him where to live - "the western suburbs! There the best!" Cyp keeps trying to get me to look there, I guess now I will. Saw Cyp running towards cat stop and told him to RRUUUNN. He made it. Plenty of time.
On the way home, I realized that Ellis had left panther in the park by our house. Felt sick. Park near our home is THE spot for Company Christmas parties these days. So when we got back, there was a climbing tower, tents, about 300 people and kids.... There is no way we'd find panther. But there he was - he had exited the playground equipment but hadn't made it far. Phew.
