School Day - Hooray

School day again - blazing heat again. Ellis is now excited to go to school which is great. Dropped him off and went and had a coffee at the Coffee Club. It's been something I've been dying to do since I got here. It looks right out over the ferry pier and people always look like their having a very relaxing time. I always wonder how people get to do this. I then went shopping. Darn Christmas. Picked up a shirt for Cyp (for his birthday) and more things for Ellis. He doesn't need more things, yet I find myself buying them. We are going to three Christmas parties this weekend (Friday - Playgroup, Saturday - daycare, Sunday - moms I met a the library) and I have to buy a present for each of them. I just bought $3.99 Mr. Men books.

Went home and didn't get anything done. Did manage to wrap presents, but this was difficult with Rowan chasing me around the apartment. He kept grabbing everything. I find myself cheering when he crawls but it has taken away the little bit of freedom I had when Ellis was in daycare. I now have to watch him as he heads straight for things he shouldn't - sharp scissors and the chaos that is Ellis's room - tiny lego and marbles everywhere. I got a brief reprieve when he napped. I now plan my day for his naps. I try to get him good and tired first by taking him for a swim.

Went back and got Ellis - as we were walking home he said - "do you see the number 7 mommy?"
"Yes."

"it says 7 Boundary Street."

"umm - when did you learn to read?"

I don't actually think he can read. I think he remembers that the street sign says that from about 3 weeks ago when we got lost. That is almost as scary.

Hey - it cooled down today. Hooray!
