I don't know why I swallowed that fly - and yes, we used the modified version of the song - perhap's I'll cry (or scream). Yup - a fly was doing the backstroke in my wine tonight. I was sipping it casually after finishing my dinner, when my brain registered the fact that there was something crunchy. Ugh. It was the big red eyed fly. Maybe they were red cause he was swimming in red wine. I don't know. Ugh.
The day started out its usual way. Ellis was actually fairly good until he noted me making his lunch - "is it Thursday?" he asked. "yup - school day." At that point he started stalling. We finally got out of the house around 9. As I dropped him off he said "I still love you mommy. some days when you leave me, I don't love you, but today I still do." He then got a sad look on his face and went and stood in a corner while all the other kids played around him.
My last sight of him was him standing there looking forlorn. He's such a serious kid sometimes.
I decided to go to the post office to mail Emilie's birthday card - saw some books on sale so decided to post them for her birthday. I got lots of help from the staff at the post office to try to figure out the best way to do it - I think I was there about an hour. Rowan was extremely unhappy now too. I then proceeded to make him more miserable by taking him clothes shopping. I picked up some more after Christmas deals. Not sure what possessed me as I don't know if I'll ever wear them, but I got some cropped jeans. It was a slightly less muggy 30 degrees today.
I decided my blog needed some pictures today - that is the view of downtown as I walk to the ferry terminal on my way to get Ellis. There is Rowan's foot as we board the ferry. There are all the kids grouped around Rowan - he has quite the following at daycare. I usually leave him parked as I run around fetching Ellis's stuff (it seems to get spread far and wide at daycare too) and the kids flock to him. One little boy - Zach- usually chases us around saying "what's your name? what's his name?" One day he asked me about 10 times. Today - he came up to me and proudly said - "that's Rowan." I was amazed. Zach is a funny little kid. Not sure how old he is - maybe 2? He's small but his face looks like a businessman's.
When Ellis saw me today he got a pouty look on his face. "I want daddy to pick me up." Right. I phoned Cyp - "are you anywhere close?"
"nope - but I can meet you at the ferry." I proposed this to Ellis.
"NO! I do not want to see daddy at the ferry. I will see him at home." Ok.
Unfortunately, we seemed to see daddy at the ferry. Our timing is that good. daddy tried to duck in so we couldn't see him. Ellis looked like he was about to lose it, but then he decided that he would go along and pretend that he hadn't seen daddy. That's him sitting at the back of the ferry after ordering me to sit at the front.

Sneaky daddy went in the back door of our building and managed to get home just before us. Phew. Tantrum averted. The lengths we have to go to. After dinner we took Ellis swimming. Tonight we tried patience with the bedtime routine (instead of yelling). Three potty pees later, he is finally in bed. It is 9:13 - about two hours after we started the bedtime process. That is it - it's back to yelling tomorrow night. That sad part is - I was asleep before him, but he woke me up with his loud announcement he had to pee and poo.
