It's hard - you start imagining where you will put the couch and dining room table (and guests) and then you don't get the house. I know what you are going through Nicole, although as renters, we are less emotionally invested.
Today I dropped Ellis at school and went to check out another house. Again, I took the city cat and then walked. Again, it was too hot. I primped a bit before I left though so I think I was more presentable.
I was looking in Bulimba today (one more cat stop away from the city from Hawthorne of yesterday) - the heat of the day is not a good time to look at a house as Cyp noted. There is no one about so the hood looks desolate.
Rowan entertained a man on the city cat on the way home or vice versa. He looked older - said he had six kids from 3 to 18 - not sure if they were grandkids or his kids and didn't think I should ask.
Oh - it was Q150 today or Queensland's 150th birthday. Was warned that there might be ferry disruptions due to the celebrations. Yup - as I was walking Ellis to school, about 10 boats went by on the river. Yup, quite the parade - 10 boats. Woo hoo.
That is about it. I sat around inside after that till it was time to go get Ellis. Didn't think about houses or look at the real estate site. After this weekend, we are hiring a relocation expert if we don't get a house. I'm done. I now know what I want - I can give the list to someone else and they can find it.
Tomorrow I am going to pick up the rental car. Yup, I'm going to drive on the other side of the road. Not to mention that I haven't driven in over a month. Wish me luck.
woo hoo a shout out!! You know, after you're been around the block a few times and seen about .. oh say a THOUSAND houses.. those feelings of desire and want fade pretty quickly. I don't even try to imagine my furniture in the house anymore and I quickly shake off any emotional attachment I might have esp. if the selling realtor tells me that there will be more then 3 people bidding. In fact, all I really care about now is whether my massive couch will fit in the living room and how much it'll cost us to fix up this (usually) 100 yr old house!
ReplyDeleteDarren (who is NOT a cynical accountant), always has high hopes that somehow someone will like us/our story (young couple looking to expand our family and move away from apartment life) more then our $ offer.. Oh to be optimistic again! I think that died after our 3rd rejected offer and 1 failed inspection.
I'm like Darren. Why do you think I haul the kids aroun - to get the sympathy vote. Maybe someone will take pity on us. Unfortunately, the agents are usually young women during the party life stage of their lives and they don't care at all if we can find a place.
