Monday Madness

So (I realize I start all my sentences with so...). Uni started yesterday and it was traffic mayhem. Our normal ride to school work (10 min) stretched to about 30 min, yet oddly I was fairly calm. There is a stretch of road just before entering the Uni that is two lane, but it merges into one just before a roundabout (which are very common here - I'm getting pretty good at them) and there was a long line of traffic in the one lane so I went in the lane without traffic. Susie would back me up here (maybe) as it is a merge just before the roundabout - as soon as I ventured into the curb lane, many followed - if everyone just divided evenly between the two lanes then things would go well. I knew if I had stayed in the slow lane, I would have been very irritated by people passing me on the left. Anyway - I merged in to the other lane (many cars ahead - heh) in front of an SUV who kindly let me in. I continued along and there was a right turner (think left turner for you North Americans) so I switched lanes to go around and heard a loud HONK! Yikes! I looked in my rear view mirror again and the SUV was chasing me. I guess I had cut it off - did I mention that everyone EVERYONE here drives in your blind spot? It is really irritating - I have to say, they are bad drivers here (says me that cut the SUV off). Well, anyway, it continued to follow me - all the way to Ellis's daycare.
"Should I stick around?" asked Cyp.
"Uh - no - I'll just apologize and say that I didn't see them." (which was true).

So I got out to face another mom dropping off her kid (she looked about as frazzled as I did).

"Sorry I cut you off - I didn't see you." I said.

"oh? Did you cut me off? No - I heard that honk, it wasn't me honking at you- I think I cut someone off."

Phew - I had thought she was chasing me to get even! Turns out her kid is in the same room as Ellis - that would have been embarrassing.

After dropping Ellis off I went home and did nothing. Waited for our new furniture to arrive (which is did - sans key for the shelves so we cannot open them - they are going to mail it) while watching the closing ceremonies. Mr. Magpie came to watch too and we both scared the crap out of each other. It took me about 15 minutes to clean up after him after figuring out how to get him out. I basically opened all the windows and then slowly crept out of the room with Rowan.

Ellis is still being very difficult to put to bed. Cyp's threats got worse and worse. NO Wii for a week! NO BEDTIME STORIES TOMORROW.... It was going on and on.

After taking away everything he possibly could, Cyp came to me and said:

"what are you going to do if Ellis can't play Wii for a week?"

"YAH - you should have thought of that one buddy!"

ARGH!

So I went in and said in my mommy conniving voice.

"Ellis, I will take you to Little Tigers tomorrow - but if you get up one more time we are not going."

That worked - boy did it. Cyp went in a couple of minutes later and Ellis was immobile on the bed.

"SSHHHHH daddy! mommy won't take me to Little Tigers tomorrow if I get up or move - go away!"

I don't think we can afford to go everyday!
