Swim Day

It is hard to fill up the week with things to do - I'm glad when Wednesday rolls around as both Ellis and Rowan seem to love swimming. I must sign them up for two lessons per week next term. Murphy's Law predicts that they will no longer like it when I do that.

Turns out that for the winter, if you sign up for one lesson, then they offer you a free one! great!

Ellis was back to his private lesson this week - he didn't have as much energy this week though and Sarah, his teacher, wondered if he was getting over a cold.

"nope - just no fan club this week."

Later on Ellis also said. "mummy, when your camera is full, you have to draw instead." which is what Granita had to do last week

Rowan didn't seem to be as enthralled with swimming this week either -hmmm. He also wouldn't nap. I fought with him all afternoon as Ellis played on the computer.

I had made arrangements to go to Lil Tigers again with Sara - American mom. They have a special from 4 to 5 pm - get in at half price. A full day's worth of germs for half the price? Count me in!

When Rowan woke up we headed out - I got there early of course, but the guy let me in for half price anyway. Lil Tigers is the best play gym of all the ones we have checked out. Ellis just disappears - it does look fun.

Sara and her kids showed up at the right time and Sara looked at Ellis and said "has he gotten that sweaty in 5 minutes?"

"uh - no we got here a little early."

Ellis was thoroughly wired by this point and was a little obnoxious. Jillian - the 2.5 year old (she seems older) was bouncing on the bouncy castle - she just throws herself at the walls and goes careening off). She got a little extra leverage and help from Ellis who was pretty much jumping on her. I went to tell him to get off - "but she's laughing." Yes she was - but I'm not sure if her mother liked watching her going flying only with extra help from Ellis. They do play well together - too bad they are leaving in July.

We shut the place down and had to head home. I discovered rush hour traffic. Took us almost an hour to get home when it only took us 20 minutes to get there. Ugh. Managed to dole out the few remaining cheerios and orange to keep the kids almost happy.

Made frozen pizza for dinner.

Ellis asked what the blob of green was on top.
"That's basil." I said.
"does that mean we can eat daddy's eyes?"

"HUH?" Oh right - "daddy's eyes are hazel, not basil"

This led to an impromptu spelling game where I spelled out words that rhyme.

Wednesday was Inspector Rex night. Not a very good one. Surprisingly, the kids wouldn't sleep - probably too wired. Ellis insisted on sleeping in my bed. sigh.
