Monday - On my own again.
Darn, Cyp's back to work today - man that weekend went fast. Cyp had mentioned that I could order online from Coles (food store) which I decided to try as it is just too difficult to drag Ellis and Rowan to the store.
Ok - ordering online is difficult too. About two hours later (and $200 later) I was done. Sadly, the most expensive thing on our list was diapers - about $80 for 150 or a little over $0.50 each. How sad is that Our order comes tomorrow morning. How exciting!
Cyp was grump by the time he left - it was painful trying to get the order in, but hopefully I can easily cut and paste next time. Then it took me another two hours (at least it felt like it) to get the boys ready. Time for sunscreen. Sigh. I'm already cursing the sun.
I decided to take us downtown today (across the river) so we headed to our ferry stop where I told Ellis to stay away from the barf. "Why" he asked in his usual way
"BECAUSE I SAID SO" said me that was already grumpy.
We took the ferry across and got off. It's hot today. We walked towards the botanical gardens - now this is Brisbane's answer to Stanley park. The gardens are just South? West? of the city. We walked a while but Ellis "ran out of energy" so we hit the overpriced garden cafe where I got a flat white and Ellis got a paddle pop (that's latte and popsicle in Canadian)
We then wandered to the playground - I befriended 3 year old Charlotte - Ellis didn't. Rowan ate some sawdust (or whatever it is they use here) and I was told by more diligent mothers.
Ellis got bored - he's not so great today and was demanding stroller time, so I put him in, put Rowan in the sling (oh yes, and gave Ellis the iphone) and we were on our way. We headed into downtown - Our rig was rather large and cumbersome, and it was hot. I headed into a book store - bought Mr. Christmas (part of the Mr. Men series) and another Pigeon book. I'm bored of the stories I brought for Ellis. Then I went next door to a bike store. I could just picture my freedom as I cruised along unencumbered by children, the wind in my hair - aaaaaaahhhhhhhh
"I'll have to come back on the weekend" I said to the bike salesman.
I headed out and walked towards the ferry terminal. By this point I had gotten the Iphone back (replaced by Mr. Christmas) and a little hand would pop out - "there's Mr. Happy, there's snow etc etc etc.
"great, great" I said.
I made my way through film set "pram coming through"
and down to the ferry terminal. By some miracle, both children are asleep! In fact, they have been asleep at home now for over an hour and I have caught up on all my blog posts!!! Hooray!
I will pay for it tonight.
