Daycare - Rough

So, now I know why I made Cyp take Ellis to Georgia in the morning. Drop off is rough.

I told Ellis when he woke up that is was a school day

"I don't wanna go to school"

Hmm. I decided to not mention it again. We managed to leave before 9, which is fairly amazing. It was already scorching hot though. Nothing compared to Melbourne these days, but it was 34 C and the walk to daycare in the morning is in full blazing sun.

Ellis hopped onto the front of Bob as we disembarked the ferry (I think he does it now, just to annoy Rowan - who I must say, gets very annoyed - he is a happy baby, but I don't think he will let anyone push him around). We spent the walk with Ellis complaining that Rowan was pushing, pulling and pinching him.

As we neared daycare, Ellis suddenly cottoned on. "where are we going?"

"School - remember?"

"I don't want to go to school anymore."

Hmmm

When we got there Ellis continued to sit on the front of the stroller and wouldn't get off. I eventually had to pry him off and say a hurried goodbye and skeddadle as one of the workers held onto him. He was bawling. I didn't linger (as per daycare strategy 101) and left. Good thing I was wearing sunglasses as I was bawling too. Not sure if daycare is going to be worth it....

I hadn't made any plans for my time off, so Rowan and I wheeled downtown to do some window shopping. We hit Harvey Norman (Future Shop) where I looked at fridges and dishwashers briefly. You usually have to buy a fridge here for a rental property. Got bored - left.

My life seems to be about shopping these days - that is really all I have to do. Sad really. Went to Target, Woolworths, Crazy Charlies, Coles - got stuff to make toilet paper roll santas with Ellis and stuff to make choc chip cookies too.

That's the other thing Aussies do - they shorten everything. Chocolate is choc. Swimsuits are cozies (as in swim costume) or bathers or togs. Babys are bubs. I like that one - hey bub. Those aren't the best examples, but I'll try to note more.

I slowly plodded home in the heat -it was too hot so I basically sat in the air conditioned apartment until it was time to go get Ellis. Yup - researched some cars, took a swim - didn't get much else done.

Ellis seemed happy to see me, but he was also very chatty on the way home. I think he had fun at daycare.
