The weekend - Market Day

Lepny - yum 2

I like touristy/fake. They have built a beach there and there is a really good waterpark. They also have a Wheel of Brisbane, not unlike the London Eye (same Company) but half the size. We got off the ferry and walked to the bus stop - it was a long walk and by the time we got there I was hot and grumpy.

The bus drove through an area that Cyp compared to Commercial St. The West End is a weird suburb, a mix of warehouses, industrial, houses and huge new fancy apartment complexes. It is a nice spot - surrounded by the river on two sides so should be nice, but certain areas just do not work.

The market was great! Lots of cheap fruit and veggies plus tons of other stuff. Ate some Lepny, which was basically spinach, cheese, mushrooms and bacon wrapped up in fried bread, had some ginger lemonade and checked out stuff as much as we could. It was packed though and hard to move around with Ellis and Rowan in tow. There was a guy playing a didgereedoo (sp?) which Ellis was fascinated with.

We decided to hike back to Southbank (as buses are few and far between on the weekends) and by the time we got there I was exhausted and hot - Ellis is quite the walker!

We hit the waterpark and it felt fantastic to get in the water. Ellis and Rowan loved the waterpark and protested mightily when we had to go. I was feeling guilty as I hadn't brought they sunshirts and every other kid there (well, almost every other kid) had one.

We took the ferry home and I crashed with Rowan. Cyp ended up taking Ellis for another walk to check out the nearest IGA. I started making dinner and at 6, I was just about to call Cyp and say "WHERE ARE YOU?" when he called me. He was at the Dockside ferry terminal. "Dinner's ready" I said.

I went out on the porch and about 5 minutes later, I saw Cyp running by with Ellis in the stroller. He made record time. We had dinner and crashed again.

Should mention - gin is not cheap here - he got 750 ml for $40 (same for Rum). I guess we will be wine drinkers.
