The day got off to a good start with Ellis voneting all over the table and floor at breakfast this morning. Ugh. When we first moved in I had commented to Tanya (other Vancouver mom) how I was so happy to have floor in the dining room again. "They're good until you have to pick the barf out of the cracks."
I've decided they are still better than carpet - not sure if the smell would ever come out and our ants are enterprising - they can get into those small cracks.
Well Rowan, doesn't look like we'll be doing anything exciting on your birthday.
I phoned the Uni and told them we wouldn't be there for swim lessons today and then set Ellis up in front of the TV. We spent the rest of the day alternating between TV, Wii and Reading Eggs (http://readingeggs.com/). We also killed about half an hour replaying Grandma and Grandpa's ecard to Rowan oh and talked to Tracey briefly. At one point Ellis declared "I've watched too much TV" and then turned it off. He then came and told me he was hungry.
"sorry" said evil mum. "I'm not giving you anything to eat as you'll just barf it up - you can have dry toast if you want."
He whined and whined, but I wasn't caving. He barfed last night in the tub too so I figured his tummy needed breaking in slowly.
He didn't seem very sick though and he was very sad to miss swimming lessons - he actually came and asked me when we were leaving (he knows that they are on Thursday) and I had to tell him that we couldn't go as he was sick. It would not be pleasant if he barfed in the pool.
To pass the time I made chicken noodle soup (which Rowan ate) and icing for Rowan's cake. Oh and I did three loads of laundry. Our washer takes 2 hours per load, so that pretty much took all day. Plus I hang them to dry. I have yet to put our laundry in the dryer since we got it over a month ago. I'm pretty proud of myself.
I also vacuumed in the guest room again - got rid of those nasty petrified geckos that gave me a fright every time I forgot they were there and looked up. Ellis and Rowan just bounce around in there while I clean - they both worked up a sweat.
Cyp came home - he had his appointment with the renal specialist today - yup, he's fine.
Rowan then got to open his cards from G. Anita and Suzy. I'm sure he would have liked them a lot if Ellis would have let him hold them. Hah. We then opened the balls that G. Anita got him for his birthday. Ellis liked those too and proceeded to toss the 100 balls around the entire house. Yah - what was I thinking. Cyp thinks we need about 1o more bags. He can be the one to pick up 1000 balls every night.
Ellis managed to eat dinner - I told him he didn't have too but he went ahead anyway - I guess he was hungry. He managed a tiny bit of cake. Rowan had a bit too - really, I think I made the cake for me. I really must throw my dessert cookbook away though. That cake is deadly - a pound of butter and 2 cups cream in the icing. We ate less then a quarter of it and that was mostly me as I polished off Ellis's and Rowan's piece. Sigh. Should be doing Wii instead of blogging.
Happy Birthday Baby Rowan... I guess he's not a baby anymore. He looks like a little sumo wrestler in the second and third pic.. It's like he's saying watch out for my cuteness!
ReplyDeletep.s. we move into our new house at the end of the month. I'll be sending pics to show the before and after!
