Saturday Market

So it's good to have visitors because they force you to go out and do things that you otherwise wouldn't do. I'd been meaning to go to the market in Rocklea for a while - it's failry close to us - held every saturday and is apparently huge.
Ellis is quite sick so he stayed home with Cyp (Ellis has no voice - he has to communicate by nodding and squeaking - kinda like a dolphin).
We drove to the market and parked - $3 per car - but then you don't have to pay the $1 for market entry, so parking is essentially free.
The market was large and way less crowded than I had heard - maybe because we were close to closing time. The produce was good and quite a bit cheaper than the stores. That is the nice thing about the markets here - they are a better deal than the markets back home. I kinda think that is the way it should be - as it is coming direct from the farm, there should not be the markup from the wholesalers and then the retailers. One thing though - it's not necessarily organic. Plus we were watching the news here the other night. They use some nasty pesticides here apparently. Oh well.
Mom bought a leg of lamb for $25 and we had it for Easter dinner last night - it was delicious and tonight we had the Barramundi from the market. It was also yummy. We have pork tenderloin left. You can get everything from the market. G. Neil bought olives and olive bread (both good - although the olives were expensive). I got some yoghurt for us to share (the best yoghurt ever) and then we were on our way. Mom was disappointed as she had her heart set on getting something bad to eat at the market (as in bad for you - but yummy) but they don't have as big a prepared food area as the West End market.
After lunch we headed out to the Southbank market (which sells stuff) and again left Cyp and Ellis at home. It seems everyone else had the same idea and the waterpark was a zoo again but we threw Rowan in anyway. He loves it - he practices his walking as it is a softer landing. Dad got a text from Cyp wondering where we had gotten to so we took the city cat back to the car and went home. We made a yummy stir fry with the ingredients we got from the market.
