Tuesday - Taxes

Not much to blog about. I spent Tuesday attempting to do our taxes. I didn't get very far. G. Neil took Ellis for a super long walk - they were gone all day. They walked down the hill to Perrin park (where the killer bikes on a track live - Ellis wouldn't go on them) and then to Guyatt Park where I think he climbed a ladder and went down a slide (hard to understand him - sounds like Donald Duck still) and then G. Neil continued on to UQ and met Cyp for lunch. Then they hiked home up the hill. G. Neil mapped his route when he got home - 8 km. Mum took Rowan for a brief walk too - she didn't go far as she was afraid of getting lost. The hill back to our house pretty much killed her. She and dad had to go for a swim to cool down and I took Ellis to our City Cousin to get our veg box. Getting our veg box is kinda like our grocery delivery - exciting! Actually it's more exciting because I never know what will be in the box. With the grocery delivery, I've ordered it, I've just forgotten what I got by the time it comes. What will we get this week is always what I think. Mum doesn't think much of it - as we often get one beet or one carrrot - what the heck do you do with one sad beet? I unpacked (sort of) our box this week and we got:

4 persimmons
2 lemons
2 bunches of baby bananas
2 beets (2!)
7 or 8 tomatoes
5 potatoes
the smallest pineapple I have ever seen - but it sure smells good
3 mandarins
lots of onions
lettuce
3 large mushrooms
green onions (we now have a surplus)
2 cukes
pumpkin (aka squash - they call it pumpkin here)
rosemary (we could have used that last week on our Easter leg of lamb as mum noted)

there was more - it was all rather exciting. I think the most exciting bit is that it is all grown locally and they include a little blurb about the farmers that grow our veg and their trials and tribulations. Apparently all the rockmelons (aka cantaloupe) got kinda mushy in the rain we've had. Funny - but it is nice knowing where our food comes from. I appreciate it more.

Rowan has now developed the cold - poor baby - he sounds a bit like Donald Duck now too. Hope we are all feeling a bit better for our upcoming trip to Fraser Island.

  1. Haha, great video! Looks like Rowan is ready for his marching band debut.

WE're also getting a veggie box, which is always a good surprise, once every two weeks. Sounds like you're getting a lot more stuff in your though. Not to mention that I don't think I'm ever going to be able to say that I have seen any locally grown baby bananas in our box. :)
