I think about three days ago, he pulled out all the chopsticks from the third drawer in the kitchen. He likes to lick everything then put it back (well - actually I put it back). If you come to our house, you may want to wash your utensils before using them...
Today he moved up a drawer to the second drawer. Sigh - where am I going to put the microplanes?
On Wednesday we didn't do much - I managed to get us all out the door for our private swimming lessons - did I mention that no one signs up for winter lessons here because it is too cold? Yes - mid 2os brrr. I managed to watch Ellis a bit again - he is really getting good. I'm hoping we can take off this waterwings soon.
Afterwards we came home and I spent time trying to get Rowan to nap which he did. Ellis was using the computer and still seemed kinda glum. At one point, he ran downstairs and outside and started hopping on his hopper ball - he seemed very much in his own world. I'm sure this Australia/Canada thing is very confusing for him. He often asks when we are going home when we are out and about and I'm not always sure what home he means - not sure if he does either. He's been on a spate of wanting to write cards to everyone (he likes to add the stamp) - "it will go on a plane and a boat and then be in Canada." I think he would like to stamp himself. If you do get a card - don't be surprised if it says 'let's all jump up and fall down." which is what he always wants to write.
When Rowan woke up I figured we needed some outside time so headed to Perrin Park which we drive by everytime we go to work/school. It has a track that often has kids practicing their bike riding skills on. I threw Ellis's push bike and a ball into the car and off we went. Cyp met us on his cycle home (he discovered a new flatter route). It was nice - got me thinking about Douglas Park and how we used to be able to just wander down the street to the park - really miss it.
Ellis peddled for a while - then we raced around with the ball (surprisingly, he was quite good - I had a hard time getting it away from him - maybe all those soccer lessons did teach him something). After a bit he got puffed - so he sat there in the field. "when are we going to have a girl in our family?"
"uh - I'm a girl."
"no - a kid."
"uh - well, if we did decide to have another kid, it could be another boy - would you like to have another boy baby?"
"that would be smart." (not sure why)
"how many brothers and sisters would you like?"
"100 boys and 100 girls. we could name them Seventeen and Thousandteen."
Yikes!
On the way home I made up a song about 101 - the number that comes after 100. It was pretty lame, but Ellis kept going "again!" He's a numbers boy. He's always saying - "in how many years will I be 7? in how many years will I be 10? in how many years will Rowan be 3.5?"
Another Ellisism:
"when Rowan is a kid and he hits me - he will have to go to the naughty spot."
