Today we went to a free Gymboree art class. It was rather lame and did not convince me to spend $97 plus $30 for art supplies plus $30 rego (that's registration in Aussie) for 6 more lessons. Craziness. I say to myself - I could cut up some moons and put some glue and cotton balls on the table for a moonscape (of course I won't - but I could). It was good to get out though and Granita got to see a Northern Suburb. Afterward we went to a great park that one of the mom's in the art class suggested. John Goss reserve. It had a great playground. Good thing Granita is here though - both kids went in opposite directions again. Hmm. How to convince them that they both like the same thing. Rowan seemed mostly content with dirt, so I could still probably park him anywhere. Or I could put him on the slide and Ellis could use him for target practice. Yes - there are options. Really - being at home does require a lot of brain work and problem solving skills contrary to some opinions.
We stayed at the park too long and it was a struggle getting the overtired and hungry kids (and mummies) into the car. Rowan passed out on the long ride home but of course woke up when I tried to transfer him. Ellis takes this opportunity when I'm trying to move Rowan indoors to ask questions in an even more loud voice than normal.
So - it was a long afternoon - I followed the whiny Rowan around and Granita stuck to Ellis. Finally in a fit of desperation I tried to get the kids to play with each other. I got out a Ba. Amazingly enough there were no disasters - Rowan was target practice for quite a while before he cottoned on. I will have to work on the playing together thing.
