Funkee Monkeys

Yes - I took them to yet another indoor play gym. Quite the business here. I've decided it's kinda like going skiing for the day - gotta get up and at em - get all ready (don't forget the socks) and it costs about the same (heh).

Rowan fell asleep in the car and only woke up fully as we were about to leave. Now that he costs, I will probably not be so willing to go. Ellis also doesn't seem as excited to see these places anymore - he doesn't disappear for two hours and come back all sweaty - he kinda hangs around and pesters me for food. He has learned that we cannot bring our own food so we have to buy things - quite the racket really. That said - they don't charge exhorbidant amounts. Flat whites are $3.30 (that's a coffee with milk - much like a latte - you cannot get regular drip coffee here). Raisin toast is $1.50 and you can get a hot dog, chips and milk for $4.50. Actually, now that I think about it - probably one of the cheapest places to eat in Brisbane. They are sneaky though - they give you a number when you enter and you just say "put it on number 27." so things add up. I kinda feel like I'm at the country club. Funkee monkeys was a tad better than Lil Tigers too as it is in a bigger space and the shrieks from the children do not reverberate so much.
Unfortunately, the boys did not sleep for the rest of the day. Stoopid gym did not tire them out or perhaps they were beyond tired. I slowly went crazy for the rest of the day but fortunately it was date night. One sitter was sick - I actually feel sorrier for the one that isn't. As soon as she turned up, Rowan put two and two together (actually - he put two and one together - there's mummy, there's daddy - uh oh......SHRIEK!) I thought he would be better after having G & G in the house, but apparently not. "Don't worry - he didn't sleep all day, so he should crash shortly after we leave." which he did. Ellis got to stay up late and watch the Bee Movie again. Ellis actually likes having the sitters over now as he has figured out that they are more fun and don't always know the rules. He does try to con them a bit. Like just after I cut out milk from his bedtime routine (milk right at bedtime causes overflowing diapers). He inadvertently said "i don't get milk anymore." at one point to the sitters - when they were reading his stories later, he said "where's my milk?" Sitter one said "you don't get milk anymore." Curses! me and my big mouth is what I'm sure he was thinking. I think he usually gets ice cream or some sort of treat though.
Cyp and I went back to Lefkas Taverna - we had to give it another chance - so many people seemed to be enjoying themselves last time, it must be good. We picked up our $4 bottle of wine on the way and this time we actually moved up one table - no longer right by the bathroom. Food was just as crappy though. We will have to find a better greek place. We wandered around the West End afterwards - feels a bit like Commercial. Passed lots of Greek places - will have to try one of them.
Got home and sitter looked beat. Sweaty Rowan was passed out on her - woke up as we came in the door. Darn.

  1. Ellis the con artist!! I think that is pretty much inevitable. I remember being the baby sat and staying up right until the car came home and then rushing to bed and pretending I was asleep.

Come to think of it, I think my sister did the same thing when I was the baby sitter too!
