"LEAVE IT!" I yell, but am usually too late. Ellis will often say innocently - "but it's not for babies - look it" as he shows me the tag that has a little baby in a circle with a line crossed through it. How can I argue with that?
Rowan loves playing in Ellis's room - so much stuff and as soon as Ellis heads in there, I hear thump thump thump thump SLAM as Rowan madly crawls to the room only to get the door slammed in his face. What happened to Ellis saying he wanted to share a room with Rowan - yah, that's over.
So, today I didn't feel like playing referee so asked Tanya if she wanted to meet at the GOMA. Thankfully she did. I contemplated my transit options and then decided - yup, car. One mommy breakdown later (Ellis had escaped out front and was busily throwing all the rocks from our newly paved driveway over the fence into the neighbors yard) we were on our way. The GOMA is very close to us - 10 min by car. Parking was $14 - I justified it by the fact that the GOMA was free so $14 for an outing is not bad. Plus it was easy - oh so easy.
Ellis knows that museum now - he ran around to all his favourite places often leaving me in his dust. We stayed there for a bit and then went to the State Library next door where we ran into mom's from our Wednesday playgroup (Brisbane really is a small city). Played there for a bit and then went and had a snack and went our separate ways. The little cafe there is outside and the kids always go a bit insane after their snack jumping off things.
We went our separate ways after our snack and El, Ro and I walked back to the car - man that was easy.
I stopped at Toowong Village on the way home:
and Ellis ran up the four flights of moving sidewalk - what do you call those? Conveyor belts at a slight slant? He would run up one - and then do a little dance when he got there, then he would hop on the down one and quickly scoot back off it. Woe to the person actually trying to go down. He almost took out a number of elderly people. I was getting looks. I guess it was obvious he was my ill behaved child.
We returned our library DVDs and then headed to Coles for a broom (which Cyp has been requesting) and then we went home.
At home, we made playdough and then muffins and then dinner. Really - it was a fairly exhausting day but generally - the kids played well in the afternoon and I wasn't counting the minutes till Cyp got home. Requisite swim after dinner and then it was bedtime - hooray!
